Ready to Treasure Hunt?
Well, this week's lesson is jammed packed with gems! Remember to always begin your study time with prayer. Ask the Holy Spirit to show you where to dig, and how to apply what you learn to your life. As always we would love for you to post your comments and questions.
What word jumps off the page at you this week? Why?
What verse is God impressing on your heart? How can you apply this verse to your life?
What do you notice about the people in this chapter?
How does Jesus react to them?
What does this teach you about Jesus?
Don't forget to use your optional tool this week! Although each week's tool is optional it is fun to try out new tools and it enhances your study!
This weeks optional tool is:
Using a study Bible, cross-reference the Scriptures regarding what David did in the Old Testament. If you would like more information about cross-referencing, see Chapter 10, Step 4 of Rick Warren's Bible Study Methods.
For your discussion...
Make sure you share your key verse and discuss how you intend to apply it! It is part of the adventure and fun of group Bible study!

Great study guides CJ. This is such a dynamic chapter. Great reminder to be using Rick's book.
Happy New Year, may God bring new insight and deeper understanding to the study of His Word.

In the limited time I have had to study this week, here are a few things I have found.
In the first several verses the Pharisees want to be "right" and they want Jesus to be "wrong". After Jesus proves himself over and over, they begin to plot against him. This really struck me because I am the type of person that wants to be "right"! Like the pharisees, I often don't concede humbly when I am proved wrong, but I seek revenge and harbor resentment. Do I really want to be like the Pharisees?? This is a life lesson for me that really struck a chord!
I love the word "careless" in the ESV verse 12:36. This was a word that jumped off the page for me. Not only will God judge the purposefully vicious words that I have spoken but also will He judge the millions of careless words that spill out of my mouth each and every day. This is so convicting, especially because I'm a talker! I fill air with careless words on a regular basis. This should be a life-changing verse for me. I need to think carefully about each word that I allow to pass over my lips and ask myself if that word will honor God. It sounds impossible, but anything is possible for him (or her) who believes. I'll be on my knees a lot for this one!!
Hopefully I'll devote much more time to next week's study. I'm excited to hear what everyone else is learning, too!
